Can't get my laptop numpad to work

Running a T500 on Windows 7. It's worth mentioning that I've never used the numpad on my laptop before. On my old Acer laptop, the numpad keys were accessed by holding Fn; those keys were, however, blue, meaning that they probably aren't accessed the same way on a Thinkpad. This also means that I can't insert Unicode characters, which is a bit of a pain. Anyone?

Re: Can't get my laptop numpad to work

What happens when you press "shift" and "Num / Roll" together?

(As I'm using a german keyboard and it maybe labelled differently the key on the top row 5th from right)

Hope this helps

Andy

What's "Num" / "Roll"? It works if I enable NumLock and just type the keys, but having to enable it is as big a chore as pressing Caps Lock, every time you want a capital letter. Not that I'm saying that it's what you suggested. =)

Correct, turning NumLock on is what I was talking about. Now I understand what you mean, using the number block on the "fly", there is to my knowledge no method as the other number keys can be used.
