Cooler for T410i

I am pretty **bleep** about laptop heat because I hate it when laptops run hot, and that's what killed the battery of my old Dell, and eventually killed my Dell.

I'm just wondering how well chill pads would work. I notice that the intake as well the exhaust for the cooling system is on the rear left side, and none of it's on the bottom. I'm just wondering if running a chill pad type of cooler would do any good. I know that it would probably cool the surface, but how would the air get inside the computer if there is no intake on the bottom?

Are there any options to have a fan right by the air intake?

I feel like I'm talking about cars.

You shouldn't have any troubles with a T410i's cooling system at all.

There really shouldn't be any exhaust vents on the bottom as the intake vents are also on the bottom; hot air would get sucked back into the system.

If you do decide to get a laptop cooler pad, make sure it doesn't work against the internal cooling system.

Thank you very much. I was just making sure that the intake was on the bottom of the laptop and that the exhaust is not.

I'll get a cooling pad just to keep my system super cool. It might make a slight difference in longevity.

If the cooling pad sucks air away from the bottom of the laptop, then it works against the internal cooling solution.

The cooling pad really only works if there's detectable heat (and therefore heat that can be conducted away) on the outside chassis, which with the T410 chassis shouldn't happen in the first place.

The T510 doesn't even get hot, the cooling system in the ThinkPad works very well. If you notice it getting hotter than it used to it is time to open it up and clean out the heatsink.
