Dual External Displays

I am planning on setting up my Thinkpad T510 (w/integrated grpahics) with dual displays and am trying to figure out the best setup

The laptop has the following outputs:

- VGA

- Displayport

- USB

The monitors have the following inputs:

- VGA

- DVI-D

- USB

What is the best way to connect the laptop to these displays? I was thinking VGA to VGA for one monitor and Displayport to DVI-D (via an adapter) for the second. Will I notice a difference in the displays? Is there a better configuration that I am missing? Should I be going with a USB to DVI adapter instead of connecting VGA to VGA?

If you have a Mini Dock, you can connect both monitors to the dock and it will automatically detect them when you attach your laptop to the dock.

vga to vga is fine for LCD smaller than 19 inches, for larger LCD, it is best that you use a digital connection. or find a good quality VGA cable.

i'm looking at using 23" dell displays

you should try the vga port first and see whether you are okay with the quality of image that is displayed. You can test the quality of the display and video connection using this:
