Embedded Controller update (which is included with the BIOS update) for my T400

I have a T400. That's all I know.  I'm supposed to dwonload one of these two updates. 

ThinkPad                                              Package version     BIOS version              Embedded Controller version 

T400 (with IEEE 1394 models)        3.09-1.05                  3.09 (7UET79WW)     1.05 (7VHT15WW)

or a

T400 (without IEEE 1394 models)   3.10-1.05                 3.10 (7VET80WW)      1.05 (7VHT15WW)

How do I know which one?   

This answer didn't come with the download directions so a non-techie (me) cannot go further.

Please help me with this.

This is about the Fireware interface. Check in your Device Manager if you have a driver for it. And/or look on the sides of the notebook for a connector labeled 1394 or Fireware.

In Device Manage I found a USB plug icon with the label IEEE1394 Bus host controllers
and inside that
RICOH 1394OHCI compliant host controller.
so I assume I should download this choice:
T400 (with IEEE 1394 models) 3.09-1.05 3.09 (7UET79WW) 1.05 (7VHT15WW)
Correct?

Yes, that Ricoh thing is the Firewire adapter, that's what I have on a T510 too. If you have a driver installed for it then it exists. So the logical thing would be to pick the optiion *with* IEEE 1394.

it is asking if I have 32 or 64 bit windows. How do I find that out?  John
