Hello Mgordon514,
have you installed messanger software like Skype, ICQ or anything else?
They could produce some data transfer ove time and a continously blinking LED.

Hello MGordon514,
please let us know your operating system.
Do you hibernate or completely shut it down?
Vista has some features called hybrid sleep, google for information to disable it.
So it won´t get down completely, when you hibernate it.
Also you should disable all devices which are allowed to wake up your system in Bios.

Hi,
then check in your bios,if the option wake on lan is disabled.
Also in your device manager, take a look into your network card settings and disable the option device can wake up the system.
The command powercfg (insert into Start-->run) shows you a list of devices that are enabled to awake your system.
You can disable each in device manager.
