Re: Help Regarding T500 2081 CTO Recovery Disks

@ Andy Thanks for your efforts. even i feel puzzled y my boot media could do the stuff as expected...

As I told you, am basically from India, and here people dont have an affinity towards Thinkpads or even premium segment laptops... Even Lenovo India dont have a campaign or an ad or even a web promo featuring thinkpads. all i could see s ideapads...lol..

Anyway with some pressure from cleo, i got a call from lenovo India, asking me to take ma lap to their service center , about 150Km away(:smileymad:), as am in carry In warranty..

Will let you know , what s der awaiting me ..lol...

Re: Help Regarding T500 2081 CTO Recovery Disks

Hello manuv,

I´m sorry for your troubles, with R&R discs, which you have documented very well.

Unfortunately I couldn´t help here, but thankfully Andy and Zoltan stepped in, who have got more experience with R&R discs!

But hopefully you´ll get it serviced now!

Maybe you have time to write a post the about how to create R&R discs and hot to use them? We can attach them then to our KB´s. That would be really helpfull for many members in this forum.

Please let us now what´s going on further.

Andreas

You're more than welcome and I assure you that I'm just as puzzled as you are.

I've sent you a PM, (PersonalMessage), which you can pick up by clicking on the small envelope at the top of the boards.

Re: Help Regarding T500 2081 CTO Recovery Disks

To Andreas and Andy...

" I am having a second copy of Recovery Media of my T500 (by tweakig Q drive , i hope you guys knew about the tweak). Dot ruin ma warraty for this :smileyindifferent:. I had kept this set in my hostel.. ( I am a student ), when I posted here in the community i was at home so i was quite unsure whether ma recovery DVD set (1st created) is faulty due to poor DVD quality. Yesterday I reached back to ma hostel, nd I put ma second copy and tried. the same thing happened... I dont have a factory RESTORE option. So Now am sure that the product itself is having some bugs.. (:smileymad:)

Btw as the so called service center is about 50KM from ma hostel , I just formatted ma system (removed the trial Win 7 ultimate), and handed it over to Service center...

The funny part is that guys at service centre havet yet recieved a copy of WIn 7 pro  from LENOVO INDIA , so they told me that it will take aother week for them to service it...And as I had deleted ma partitions (Q nd Z), it might be chargeable...

My guess is that , I might have to fight with them to get ma stuff repaired for FREE.... "

Now I wanna ask a serious query,

1. Does the Recovery Media work if we change the size of C drive

2. Alter MBR

3. Repartion HDD (using Gparted , PQMAGIC)

4. Delete all Partition including SYS_DRIVE

5. Replace HDD

My guess is that IT SHOULD WORK IN ALL THESE CASES. Coz then only it could be named as a recovery MEDIA.

Re: Help Regarding T500 2081 CTO Recovery Disks

Recovery discs will completely wipe the hard drive and restore it to factory state. If you have changed the size of the C drive, they will change it back. More important; if you have created another partition for your files, it will wipe that clean as well so back it up first or it's bye bye  files :smileysurprised:

Andy

Re: Help Regarding T500 2081 CTO Recovery Disks

@ everyone...

I got ma laptop serviced after a long wait.. Am quite happy to see in back in action. Infatc I got it after reinstallation about 4 days back, but as I was down with fever and busy with ma exams , I couldn post about it here...

Thanks to you guys here at the forum, for lending out your best to help me out, especially Cleo, andyP,   Agotthelf, lead_org,  zoltanthegypsy ...

Infact , after a little chit chat wid the guys at the service centre I managed to grab the ISO  image of those Win 7 Professional Factory Installation disks that are used to install Win 7 on Lenovo Machines.... Havnt yet tested them, but pretty hopefull that they will do their job..

Once again thank you all for the helping hand...
