Help needed with graphic drivers T410s

hey guys,

i have problems with my new T410s, it randoms crashes/freezes. together with some blue screens.

i updated all my drivers through windows update and thinkvantage toolbox.

I have the T410s; model nummer 29249GG running on a windows 7 64 bit.

when i look at: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-74582

and at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=/product.do?template=/productpage/lan...

it says i should have the nVidia Display driver (Switchable Graphics model) with nummer 8.16.11.9223/1.0.15.0 from 15 november 2010 installed.

i tryd to install them, but the installer say it does not find any compatible hardware.

Now when i see on my pc it only installs the other drivers : 8.17.12.6099 ( the nVidia Optimus Display Driver). i tryd to remove it and reinstall that other driver, but it keeps saying the same error. ( tryd this multiple times)

when i see at the thread: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T410S-w-switchable-gt-lots-of-System-freeze...

the 8.16 driver should bring a solution to my random freezes but i cant install it

i'm really getting tired of all the random freezes, i need the graphic driver for some presentations at work and it gives a really bad impression when i need to reboot my system during these presentations because of another system crash....

can anyone plz help? lenovo?

Re: Help needed with graphic drivers T410s

I am assuming you have the latest BIOS. If you do not, try installing that from a bootable CD. Do not update BIOS from within windows 64-bit. Then right click on the plug icon in the taskbar next to the battery icon. There should be a menu option for switchable graphics. Choose high-performance. Then try installing again.

[ Edited ]

Update: i also tryd the following;

remove driver, reboot, enter bios, say i only want the discrete graphic driver, then offcourse my resolution is **bleep**ed up, i want to install the 8.16 driver which does not want to install correctly, only the 8.17 driver wants to install, but there offcourse i have a lot of problems with.

i tryd these multiple times, rebooting when necessary, now i'm back on my beginning, running optimus in bios, twee graphic driver ( internal intel which i don't have a problem with) and the nvidia 8.17 driver.

i can reproduce a system crash without any problem, just installing windows server 2008 with virtual pc, alttabbing back to windows 7 and some surfing, and 5min later there is a freeze...offcourse there are lots of other moments the system crashes but this crash is pretty sure to happen all the time....

plz help me :-)

NEXT UPDATE: i tryd in the bios to change to use only the nvidia graphic driver, still the same crashes,

next i changed it in the bios to use only the internel intel graphic driver, also the same crash....

now i really don't know what the problem is...laptop gets quite hot , but that shouldn't be the problem ( i hope)...

Re: Help needed with graphic drivers T410s

another update:  i installed thinkpad fan controller, changing the settings so that now my laptop keeps around 40°C when doing regular work.( before 55°C)..

after testing for some time,  i didnt get any crashes anymore...so it looks like the problem was just overheating...

I thought the new bios should have fixed that problem but thats not true it seems....
