Intel AMT - SOL (COM4) driver periodically requires reinstall

My T400 is experiencing recurring Device Manager Alerts for the Intel Active Management Technology - SOL (COM4) driver, which stops working with a Code 43 in Device status.  When the flag comes up, I can reinstall the driver and it works fine for a day or two and then it reappears and requires another reinstall.  Any suggestions?

 

Driver details: Intel ver.  5.4.1.1016

Unfortunately, this doesn't appear to apply to the T400.
