Localized "Access Help" for T400

Hi,

I own a T400 2767-WC8 which is shipped without operating system.

I'm currently installing Windows XP onto it, and I want to install Access Help, too - but not in English, but in German.

I know that there exists a localized versionof Access Help, because that's shipped with the German XP preload image.

But unfortunately, the Lenovo support page lists only the English version.

Can someone tell me where I can get the localized versions (especially German)?

Thanks!

Hans

Re: Localized "Access Help" for T400

Here is what I found out so far:

The archive file name I'm looking for is "7UTA01GR".

Unfortunately this didn't help me any further - but maybe this is the information you need to help me...?

I really hope somebody can help me, it's quite urgent :smileysad:

Thanks a lot!

Re: Localized "Access Help" for T400

Hello Hans,

you mentioned, at thinkpad-forum.de, your friend has got the same notebook type as yours with XP.

Please check into his folder C:\SWTOOLS\Apps\ahlp

There you should find the setup.exe from Access Help.

Hopefully this could be a solution for you, since it seems that no German version is available.

kind regards
Andreas

Re: Localized "Access Help" for T400

Thanks for the response! This solution is so easy that I didn't think about it.

I quite immediately called my friend - and he told me that he discarded his preload image and preferred to do a clean install from windows system builder disks... :-( Seems if I currently really got bad luck :smileysad:

Does someone have another idea what I could do?

And does somebody know the reason why Access Help for more recent models is not provided anymore?

Thanks,

Hans

Hello Hans,

that´s sad!

Perhaps there is a chance, that you´ll get the recovery disks from your friend?

Edit: typos.

Re: Localized "Access Help" for T400

Hi, unfortunately not.

It turned out that he has the same model, 2767-WC8, which usually should not have any preload installed, but obviously did anyway. As he didn't have a valid XP license and wanted to install Vista, he decided to discard the EISA image, and also didn't create any recovery disk, because he simply didn't need it (and wouldn't even have it if everything went ordinary).

But I still can't believe that everything is published in every language, but the Access Help, where IMHO the localization is most essential, not? Doesn't anyone know the reason?
