Well I have been focused on getting my system working with it in/out of service and I have had to reinstall all my software. Fix a few bugs I inherited in the OS reimaging.
I want to edit some photos and looked for the card reader. I don't know what this is suppose to be under the Express Card Slot and in front of the head phone jack. But my Memory Card Pro just fell into it and I caught the end and got it out. Its a wide and thick opening and my SD Card would get lost as well.
I used a card reader I have for my SLR card which is CF and no notebooks have that for this Sony card. I was certain that at least SD and memory stick Pro's were supported but how and where???

It looks like its missing a module in that opening all together.
It must be separate from the motherboard to be missing entirely. I know the motherboard has been replaced one for certain and maybe twice. Do they have to move them over?
Here is a photo of the area.

I added a photo, I hope its clear enough. Black needs better front light for the photo. But the gap is quite large.

My W520 looks exactly like that and it is indeed an SD card reader.

Well both the SD and Memory Stick are the same thickness. I tried only the memory stick which is a longer card and it nearly went all the way in. Flopping around loose.
There as not be a narrow slot just inside the opening for the card. I certainly have not such thing. The opening you see continues way inside at the same width and height. Height wise its thicker than CF card.
