Over the past 4-6 weeks I think I've had at least a dozen T420 / T420s laptops come straight out of the box looking like this:
Lines runing horizontal or vertical AND multiple dead pixels.
I realize lines or stuck pixels happen from time to time but usually not both and certainly not in the quanity I've been seeing.
At the moment all of my screens being replaced are the 93P5689. I'm not sure if this is affecting just this FRU or if it's happening on other FRUs as well.
Anyone else have a display like this?
Is Lenovo aware of any issues with the display in these models?

the quality of screen has improve some much over the decade and more since TFT came out. Even dead pixles are not very common at all. But what you have is clearly a serious defect and was never quality control check. I recommend returning and getting a replacement or order another as this is DOA. Who knows what else is wrong if this passed QA.

Yes I'm replacing the displays as soon as they come into me. It's a quick fix so it's not a huge deal unlike the known systemboard failures we've had with these models.
I'm just starting to notice them pile up on break/fix bench.

Well I hope you have the full diagnostics package. Its been pulled from the Notebooks it seem. I think Thinkvantage update cleared it now. I'd want to be sure everything else is ok. Yeah you can change but if you're spending a lot of time fixing multilple subsystem its best to have a clean slate and a notebook pretested. I appears they're not.

A total of 5 LCDs this week out of the box with varyin line / dead pixel issues.
All 93P5689 FRU models. All on backorder with no ETA at this time.
I'm guessing there was a bad batch of display panels?
