My ThinkPad T400 won't boot!

I honestly have no clue what could have caused this!

I turned it on this morning & it was stuck on the booting screen. It read "ThinkPad" in large letters followed by "To interrupt normal start up, press the blue ThinkVantage button." I waited for about a half hour for it to boot & it never did. I of course pressed the ThinkVantage button & to my dismay...nothing happened. Afterwards, I unplugged it & removed the battery pack. I then plugged it back in & attempted to start it up again. Once again, nothing. I unplugged it again & attached the battery pack. At that point I tried starting it up again and N O T H I N G!

What do I do?!

[ Edited ]

have a look at your usb ports, there could be some sort of pins touching, as the result of damaged usb pins.

You sir are 100% correct! Now, what can I do about this? Have the Usb Port replaced?

You have to untouch the pin.

Re: My ThinkPad T400 won't boot!

The small black piece that is supposed to be in the USB port is not there. All I see are the pins. They are not touching eachother but they are touching the metal below them. Do I stop them from touching that?

Those pins should not be touching. You can see that in comparison with the left USB.

Re: My ThinkPad T400 won't boot!

I can't believe it, but this super simple fix brought my computer back to life (Lenovo Thinkpad T400). THANK YOU!!

FWIW, My computer was working fine, but I decided to restart b/c I had a program that was caught up. When I restarted, I couldn't get my computer past the login screen. I thought my motherboard or hard drive had failed. This was a super easy fix, and I'm now up and working again. THANK YOU!!
