New GPU for 2011?

What do you guys think Lenovo will do for the GPU in the new T series for next year?  (I bet they go back to ATI and go for the 5000 series)

Thinkpad T500 - Intel Core2 P8400 (2.26GHz), 4 gigs of ram, 160GB/7200rpm hard drive, ATI 3650 GPU, WSXGA+ panel

Re: New GPU for 2011?

that is something only Lenovo engineers and relevant managers would know for sure, and they are not going to release this sort of information to the general public.

But you may get a good idea of whom's GPU they are going to use, by looking at similar laptops model from the competitions.

Also, there is the constant cycle of

ATI (T60) -> Nvidia (T61) -> ATI (T400/T500) -> Nvidia (T410/T510), so from theory there is a good chance ATI would be the chip supplier for the next thinkpad model.

Re: New GPU for 2011?

Could we look at recent 2010 models, or would we need to look at the first 2011 ones after they come out? Or is there a road map for one of the competitors?

usually you would get an idea what sort of GPU will be in it, as HP or Dell could be releasing their new models closer to Christmas. Lenovo would do so within few months of that.

Re: New GPU for 2011?

Sony just put a 5650 in their 15.5 inch EB...   That may be it....

Re: New GPU for 2011?

Yeah, its a different target audience, but since the t500 had the 3650, i wondered if the 5650 would be believable?

I will be happy as long as they don't downgrade again!  :smileyvery-happy:

Re: New GPU for 2011?

Hmmm... With the optimus announcement on the t series today, I think its unlikely that they would go with ATI with the next gen T series.
