Notebook stand for Re: New T420/T520 Docking stations

Along those lines, has Lenovo given up on the Thinkpad adjustable notebook stand (40Y7676) I have latched nicely to my T61p's dock? I'm not seeing anything like that for the current docks. I do like having my laptop's screen up at the same general height as my main monitor when docked. Their "essential notebook stand" (45J9292) looks pretty cool, but it specifically says it's not compatible with docks. It looks like the "easy reach monitor stand" (55Y9258) is the only one left that is designed to work with a dock, but with the notebook closed, you loose not only your laptop's screen but also access to Fn keys and the fingerprint reader. Anyone put "pegs" on any third party stand? Maybe the 3M Adjustable Notebook Riser LX500 Notebook platform could work. I'll probably find out. Wonder why/what they changed so that it's not compatible with the old notebooks stand.

Re: New T420/T520 Docking stations

Hello Skt0074,

Everyone's suggestions were great and I just wanted to add what I found too, here is a link to your docking station with part # 45N6681

http://shop.lenovo.com/gbweb/gb/en/itemdetails/45N6681/460/6D501EE899104FF9A362D739642CFC27#learnMor...

here's the link for your part # 45N6678:

http://shop.lenovo.com/nlind/nl/en/itemdetails/45N6678/38/D70099C69E2B4834B5FD822D8D71C74D

both state that they are compatible with T420 and T520 duel core models.

I hope this helps you,

@ aaurnab

ThinkPad Advanced Dock comes with One half-size PCI Express card slot - Supports half-size PCI Express cards, including graphics adapters that enable multi-monitoring. The ATI Radeon HD7750 is a full size PCI Express 3.0 x16 bus interface which unfortunately wont work in the docking station. Here is the link to ThinkPad Advanced Dock:

Re: New T420/T520 Docking stations

Hey Aaurnab,

The PE4H is a great idea to use a PCIex16 card with a notebook could you just let me know more about what you want more info on? For example does the PE4H work with T420? More workarounds like PE4H?

Best Regards,

Hiro

Re: New T420/T520 Docking stations

Unless my vision is failing the product does NOT list the T520 i7 & offer little value. Not even a USB 3.0 port.
It appears limited on video card support and unless its equiped with a 170W PS its useless to most systems if additon dock logic is running and with some video card in there.

I've seen some US pricing and its up there.
