Hello Mark,
The power consumption and brightness issue is indeed gone! However, GPU accelerated browsers (Firefox 4 and IE9, crash when running on the Intel IGP. Running the browsers with the ATI card doesn't show that problem. Here's a crash report from Firefox 4 when running with the Intel card:

Ok, this is weird, Live Messenger 2011 also crashes when running the Intel IGP. It's doesn't actually crash until you click and tries to show your contacts. Doesn't happen when running the ATI card. Think I'm gonna stay with the old Intel drivers + Catalyst 10.10.

I'm at a loss. Outlook now crashes too with the Intel IGP. With the ATI card everythings fine. I tried a clean install to no avail.

Will the driver for Windows Vista be updated, too?

I went ahead and uninstalled all the drivers, so that Windows installed the default drivers that come with the operating system. After that, I installed the new drivers just released, but still Firefox, IE9, Live Messenger and Outlook 2007 crashes when running the Intel IGP. Not so with the ATI card. =(
