Based on the experiences of the thread on switchable graphics driver issues under Vista, I start here a new one for switchable graphics issues related to Windows 7 (all SKUs). Please keep the thread focused and your language clean. That is: Issues related to XP or Vista are not the topic here. ![]()
I made the switch to Win 7 64 and so far, it's an improvement in the "switchable graphics"-area. But I've already observed some issues:

My W500 running W7/64 RTM. Installed W7 switchable driver posted mid-October. My native resolution is 1900x1200.
When running in reduced resolution on the ATI card, I cannot enable "Full Screen" mode - all options give "Centered" display - with blank border around the display area. But on the integrated Intel, I can stretch to fill the display.
Reverting to April Vista drivers, and "Full Screen" works again with the ATI card.
Strange, but when 2nd monitor is attached, I *can* enable "Full Screen" on the ATI - and stretch lower resoltions to take the full display.
Anyone else? Any known fix?

Running into significant power consumption issues, as per the @roteiro thread mentioned above. On wake-up, I'm running double-wattage drain. Switching to and from the "High Performance" option causes this to drop back to normal wattage. (I think...)

In the event log, I have many errors like the following ones:
Error 26.10.2009 19:02:08 amdkmdag 43029 (42): Display is not active
Error 26.10.2009 19:02:08 amdkmdag 52236 (51): CPLIB :: General - Invalid Parameter
If this is only noise, then the error entries should not be created.

Another small issue with the switchable graphics drivers under Windows 7 is that the color reproduction is slightly different when using discrete graphics compared to using integrated graphics. Notice that this issue is also present in the Vista drivers.

I would not call it "slightly" different, for me they are really annoying (too bright colors on integrated) - but only if you are on battery.
What fixes the problem to a certain amount is disabling some of the power-saving features within Intel's Display Settings tool.
Greetz!

So, at the very least there is another user who made the same observation!

Hehe, same feeling here ; )
Once I had a Lenovo technician take a look at my machine and convinced him to do something about this problem, so he changed the mainboard - no effect. Don't know what causes it, but changing the graphics settings makes it endurable.
Greetz!

HELP! !
My W500 display crashed when I scrolling web pages in IE easily. About 10 times an hour in average.
Sometimes it stopped responding even when the "Disply driver stopped responding and has recovered!" windows balloon didn't disappear.
OS is Windows 7 x64. version 6.1.7600.16385
I don't know if there is any connection between the scrolling action and the display driver failure . Except when reading web pages in IE , display driver worked perfectly when other application was running.
If I switched to intel graphics, everything went smoothly. I have installed the newest display driver from lenovo. But it didn't help. There is no external monitor attached. It's a newly installed OS, so I can rule out application confliction. I wonder if this is a hardware failure, or I'll have it changed.
here is some messages from my windows System log
Every time the display driver stopped responding, 2 messages were added to Windows log.
firstly
Error
isplay is not active

lzmi, would you please shed some light on me how to solving this problem? Using Intel Graphic?
