T400 2767 (14U) Max RAM?

Hi,

Does anyone know what the max ram is for that model? There's conflicting information online.

Also, which kind of ram should I purchase?

Thanks in advance!

[ Edited ]

Hello and welcome,

A quick search of the board turns up this thread: T400 Max installable memory?

I'm certain a T400 can support 8G of ram, because that's what I'm running in mine.  Haven't found a clear answer re 16G.

[edit] If you run a 32-bit OS, you won't get much more than 3.5G of usable RAM, no matter how much you install.

This is the RAM I'm using: Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) Laptop Memory Model CT2KIT51264BC106...

There have been several reports of incompatibility problems between ThinkPads and Corsair memory, although some user's report no problems.  It's probably a good idea to stick with Crucial or one of the other major brands.

8 GB.  I recently upgraded using Gskills from newegg since there were many positive ratings from t400 owners.

Re: T400 2767 (14U) Max RAM?

Hi,

YES; have no problem with 2x4GB on my T400-2767. (Crucial memory; same as listed). But would love to go higher i.e. 16GB for 64 bit Win7. Anyone???

Upgraded my M81 desktop (w/Win7-64bit) from 4GB to 12GB. Made quite a difference! Don't know what it will do for the T400, but hey; memory is getting pretty cheap!

Probably not the right place to post, but ... Lenovo's max RAM listings sometimes are questionable. Have an old X200 with 2x2GB as per max spec. Almost everyone says 2x4GB is no problem. New sticks coming tomorrow!

Cheers, Emile
