T400 battery not getting charged

I am having a problem with my T400 battery, it is not getting charged, even thought it is showing charging as the status, whereas when I checked the power manager it is showing the battery condition is good and it has also passed the test in the thinkvantage.

I have also tried removing and re-attached the battery, and I shut down the machine and tried charging but nothing is working out. Can anyone please let me know what could be the problem?

my machine is covered under the warranty.

standard warranty for battery lasts only for one year, so if you have tried these methods to get the battery working, and it is still not working as expected. Then it is best that you call up warranty and request a battery or send the laptop in for a diagnosis.

I am going to contact lenovo support team on monday......but do you think there will be a problem with battery? because it is passed in the hardware test. And, please let me know if I can do any simple troubleshooting.

Have you accidentally set a charging threshold on the battery?

Do you have integrated graphics or discrete? (or post the full model) Do you have 65W charger or 90W? Does the charging light flash or is it steady? Do you know anyone with a T400 or a 14.1" wide-screen T61? The best way is to see it will charge a different battery. The problem could be the motherboard or the battery.

1. I have integrated graphics
2. 65W charger
3. Charging light flashes for almost every 5 seconds.
4. I haven't tried charging with another T400's battery, that I will do it on Monday and will update you.

Just to add to it. Yesterday, I tried running my machine with AC power connected and suddenly it started charing after around 4 hrs but today, it charged for around 2% and stopped charging again. This is really behaving weirdly

Could the battery be loose? Or some related internal connectors are loose? Either way, this sounds like a problem that should be warrantied.

Did it die all of a sudden? Did you see any signs before, like significantly shortened battery life?

I my case the battery was working well until the night it said " plugged in but not charging", so I think it might not be a battery problem. I shut off the laptop, took the battery out and wiped away some dust. Then it's charging again.
