what anti-virus program are you running? Also, how much ram do you have?
Have you updated the Vista to service pack 2? and is this freezing program occurring in all windows program or just a handful of programs?

I have Macafee antivirus, and the ram is 4 GB
Yes it is updated to SP2, and this occurs with no specific program running (even if there are no programs opened by me), in fact it happened while typing this massege, and the programs I am opening is the IBM Lotus notes, Internet Explorer & Microsoft Excel.

did you have this problem when you first got the laptop? or did it come up recently?

are you able to reinstall the OS?

When I looked at your running processes, I was suprised at how much memory Internet Explorer was using.
Also, Task Manager shows that there are 99 process running, but only 33 are shown in your screen image. What else is running? I rarely have more than 45 process running!
