T400 locks up when A/C adapter is plugged in to it.

Here is yet another problem with my $100 T400.

When my T400 is plugged in to A/C and I boot it up, it freezes and keeps rebooting.

When it is running on battery it seems to run ok.

When the battery starts to run down and I plug in the A/C adaprter it automatically freezes up.

it is a 65W 20 V Lenovo adapter. FRU 42T 5283.

Could there be a problem with the adapter?

What happens when you remove the battery and then boot with the A/C adapter?

with the battery removed and the adapter plugged in it tries to boot, but just to a black screen, then rebooots, doesn't even make it to the Lenovo splash page.

this is most likely a motherboard issue. There is a reason your T400 was sold at that price.
