T400s DVD/CDROM drive in DOS

Hi

I need to access the CD/DVD drive of T400s in DOS (by booting pc with for example a window98se DOS floppy disk).

I have tried gcdrom.sys driver (avilable on net, for SATA Native IDE CD/DVD-ROM driver)  in DOS but with no success.

Information about T400s cd/dvd drive in windows device manager:
DVD/CD-ROM drives:  "Optiarc DVD RW AD-7910S"
IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller: "Intel(R) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller"

Please help.

Thanks.

Re: T400s DVD/CDROM drive in DOS

Since the T400s has a SATA optical drive there are not any DOS CD drivers. Your best

bet is to use WinPE for booting instead of DOS.

Re: T400s DVD/CDROM drive in DOS

I have found a solution:

extcd.sys cdrom driver is working for Lenovo Thinkpad T400s CD/DVD drive in DOS.

Find extcd.sys and ctload.exe files on net and put them in your boot floppy disk.

Create a cdrom.bat file with following contents

echo Loading Dell EXTCD driver
CTLOAD extcd.sys /D:EXTCD001
echo Loading MSCDEX to assign CD Drive letter
MSCDEX.EXE /D:EXTCD001

In DOS mode  just run cdrom.bat

Re: T400s DVD/CDROM drive in DOS

if you can't find ctload.exe on net

then just add this line

DEVICE=extcd.sys /D:EXTCD001

in your config.sys file

and in autoexec.bat file or cdrom.bat file, just add

MSCDEX.EXE /D:EXTCD001
