So I've replaced my fair share of T61 CPU fans due to them dying out, locking up and giving a fan error upon boot.
Now I'm starting to see a rash of CPU fan failures with brand new T410 units.
Anyone else in the repair biz see a growing trend of this? Or is it just me?

I have not seen any, but lots of T61 fans. T61 fans seem to die after 3 years

More like 2 years 10 months ![]()
Our fleet of T400 units are starting to age as well but I'm seeing more T410 fan failures than T400 failures

Yes this is indicative of a CPU fan failure.

I've had my brand new T410 for less than 3 weeks and this morning I've just seen the "fan error" message and unable to boot
.
I found a blog post here, http://apttech.wordpress.com/2011/02/05/lenovo-t41
Pretty ropey really. I thought ThinkPads were supposed to be built like tanks.
