Re: T410 won't recognize external monitor on KVM

Ya know, it would go a long way for Lenovo, if someone actually monitored these posts....I was running diagnostics of my video, and it shows that the external monitor is fine, the cable is fine, but it drops the video port, meaning it can't identify it when it drops.  It then reestablishes and works ok for a few minutes before doing it again.  I've installed everything I can from Lenovo, and still have the issue...it's driving me nuts!!

Re: T410 won't recognize external monitor on KVM

Just a reminder that Lenovo established this community for user-to-user support, and it is moderated by volunteers like me. Although there is some Lenovo presence, they can't read and respond to every post. They do try to help with some of the broader issues.

I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

Re: T410 won't recognize external monitor on KVM

I managed to get a workaround for my KVM switch using MS XP. I created a new hardware profile (control panel – system – Hardware Profiles), then disable the graphics in that profile (control panel – system – hardware tab – device manager – select graphics card – properties – do not use this card in the current hardware profile). So when I boot up I get a menu for KVM usage (no graphics driver) or Normal (using the graphics drivers). The only down side to this is that the graphics are very slow, this is not a problem for me as it's a business machine so not playing games/video etc, but at least I can use my monitor. Hope this helps.

Re: T410 won't recognize external monitor on KVM

It sure does not look like Lenovo is bothering to monitor these forums. I also have experienced all the different symptoms described in this thread and it has been a few years since the first posting. I called support and they told me to call sales at 866-428-4465 and complain!

Re: T410 won't recognize external monitor on KVM

I just received the T410 and docking station as a replacement for my T61 which worked ok with a Belkin Omnicube but like everyone else the T410 wouldn't work with it.  I had purchased a Monoprice KCF-141 KVM to use at home so thought I would try it.

"IT WORKS"

The KVM from Monoprice works without any issues on the T410 using the USB for the keyboard/mouse and on a desktop that is using the PS2 connections for the keyboard/mouse.  I am using a Dell ST2310B LCD monitor and the VGA ports.

You can find the KCF-141 KVM (all cables included) at www.monoprice.com

Hope this helps all.

Re: T410 won't recognize external monitor on KVM

see if there is any password for bios.

ctrl+alt+delete type in the password press enter.

then hold fn press F7 once and wait for it to connect. ( it usually takes up to 5sec)

hope that helps.

(IT tech) not lenovo or ibm.
