Hi,
I've just got a new T410s 2904-FXG, with a Conexant audio system, running on Windows 7 64bit.
The latest drivers from Lenovo are installed.
I'm having trouble with using headphones. If i connect headphones to the jack, nothing happens. The SmartAudio program doesn't recognize them at all, and so does windows. So, I can't use any headphones this way.
When I connect the headphones to the docking station's headphone jack, it works as expected.
What could be the problem?
Thanks,
Shlomo

the headphone port on the laptop is probably has a stuck movable pin, do you have warranty?

I do have a warranty - but I'm surprised this could be the reason, since I just unpacked the laptop yesterday...
Where is this pin located? Maybe I can fix it myself without sending it to the shop?
Is there any chance this is somehow a software issue?
Another tiny bit of info - it worked when I rebooted into safe mode and then restarted with the headphones already inside the jack. After first disconnection though it came into it's "normal" non-working state...

this could be a software issue, did you try to uninstall and reinstall the audio driver?

Yes, I reinstalled the Conexant driver several times... I might try to do it again, if you think that would help?
Does it make sense? I mean, the fact it works flawlessly with the port on the dock kinda raises questions about it being a software issue, but who knows...

i can't say for sure, since i don't have the machine on front of me. But this could be either the software and hardware problem.

I could function as a proxy ![]()
What extra steps would you take if you were doing this?

the fastest and quickest way for me to deal with the issue when all else fails, is to do a clean install of the OS.

Okay, I've verified this is not a hardware issue.
I've installed Wubi (ubuntu), and there the switching works great, no problems whatsoever.
How can I proceed now?
I've tried "uninstalling" and "deleting" the Audio Card (Conexant) driver from the device manager, and reinstalling from the latest version from Lenovo.
I've tried using the Microsoft provided "HD Audio" device driver.
None of the above helps.
What else can I do? Except reinstall the OS?
