T410s Major Fps Lagg Issue

[ Edited ]

Hello, I have owned my Lenovo T410s for almost 18 months now.  Since the moment that I bought this laptop, it has had major FPS lagg problems while running ANY (even small and old) games.

These are the Specs:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU       M 560 @ 2.67GHz

RAM: 4GB

64 bit operating system

Basically, when i open any game whatsoever (even browser based java games), and run the game for less than 1-2 minutes, the FPS goes from 50 fps to 1.2-1.5fps (no joke).  It stays like this for 30 seconds, before being back to 50fps, but the process repeats every few minutes.  I have never been able to solve this problem, and look to this forum for help!

Some other information:  When this 'fps lagg' occurs, the CPU jumps from a constant 20-30% to 100% immediately.  The laptop also becomes extremely hot, and it will burn you if you touch it for too long.  It happens from games such as Counter Strike 1.6 to Skyrim, no matter what game I play, it doesnt work!

I have tried to do extensive research in order to find out why it doesnt work, but I have come up empty handed.  I think that the graphics card which I have is NVIDIA NVS 3100M, and it also has Intel(R) HD Graphics above it in the list (sorry i am not very good at computers!)

Edit: I have searched through these forums, and found the following threads which people have posted all with the same problem:

http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T410-Core-i5-CPU-throttling-gt-overheat-iss...

None of these people have found a solution to their problem.

Any help to solve this problem will be muchly appreciated, thank you all :smileyhappy:

Re: T410s Major Fps Lagg Issue

go into your bios menu and switch to discrete graphics card mode under Display property. See whether that addresses your problem.

Changed to discrete graphics card mode under display properties, and it did not change anything - it still does not work for more than 30 seconds before going to 1.2-1.5fps :smileysad:

Any more help would be much appreciated, and thanks to lead_org for good suggestion too!

Re: T410s Major Fps Lagg Issue

hum, this seems to be an issue with your laptop overheating and then throttling.

Download, tpfancontrol from the web and switch the fan speed to max when you play games, see whether that helps.

Jin Li

try the above link for the software.

When you say it doesn't work, can you explain which step you are stuck in?

Re: T410s Major Fps Lagg Issue

I'd run HWMonitor to see your max temperatures too.
W520: i7-2720QM, Q2000M at 1070/670/1340, 22GB RAM, 500GB HDD, FHD screen
TPT1: 1839-23U, stock ICS
