T420 i7 2.7Ghz get very low performance score in win7

I just bought a T420 with i7 2.7Ghz processor and 2g memory.

In win7 64bit, I get performance score 3.4, which is from processor, it is unreasonable low.

Anyone has idea what's wrong with this machine?

Was the battery in the machine when the test was being run?

i notice the same thing.  I have the Lenovo T420 with Core i7 with 4 GB RAM and Windows 7 64bit.. it is unbelievably sluggish, and task manager shows CPU usage scraping the roof!!  I expected much better from the i7!

are you people running the laptop without the battery installed?

battery installed, power plugged in, and it is a brand new laptop (2 weeks old)

have you tried to update the bios firmware? also are you running the laptop in performance mode?

Open the Lenovo power manager and ensure that the power scheme is set to high performance. Switch the power manager to "basic" mode to make it easier to confirm this.

My T420s (with i5) has WIndows 7 CPU rating of 7.1, so you should be seeing higher.

It is windows performance score, it doesn't matter.  How is it when you use it?  Are you having speed problems?

i noticed that sluggishes starts to creep up if i keep the latop without reboot for serveral days.. i will try to isolate which sofware is hugging the CPU... but i can safely say now nothing wrong with the hardware
