T420S: fullscreen magnifier not working at all?

Please help...

I have a new T420S (just purchased). This is my first ThinkPad, and I'm still getting used to it. I have already observed one problem: the fullscreen magnifier function isn't working at all. Absolutely nothing happens when I type Fn+Spacebar. The other Fn functions appear to work fine.

Is this a known problem? I believe that I've applied all available updates to the machine; both Lenovo's and Microsoft's.
