Hey there,
Has anyone who has an Optimus T420s started to suffer random crashes in IE9 when hardware rendering is brought into play ?
I have.
Here is the event log from one of the crashes :
Faulting application name: iexplore.exe, version: 9.0.8112.16421, time stamp: 0x4d76255d
Faulting module name: nvumdshim.dll, version: 8.17.12.7658, time stamp: 0x4f53bfb5
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000034dd
Faulting process id: 0x1bc8
Faulting application start time: 0x01cd4053c1ccabf7
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\nvumdshim.dll
Report Id: 00ed2a91-ac47-11e1-8167-028037ec0200
As you can see : nvumdshim.dll is the offending file - never really had stability problems before now wondering if anyone else is getting them or if I'm the only one.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Do you think Lenovo will get some new Nvidia drivers out for the T420s that don't exhibit this problem ?
For the meantime I'm gonna try and hunt down the driver package before this one to stop this problem.
I'm currently using this one :
http://support.lenovo.com/en_GB/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS014142
So 8.17.12.7658 - the previous version did not exhibit this problem.
Any ideas from anyone ?
See your PM

Just use these ... http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro-notebook-win7-
I have always the retail Nviia drivers to be a) newer and b) faster and more stable.
