T500 Desktop crashes frequently - graphics driver error ("atiumdva.dll")

[ Edited ]

I recently wiped and reinstalled the original software on my T500. Applied all of the Windows Vista and Lenovo updates. For some reason, my desktop crashes every so often and asks me to restart it (not restart the computer, just the desktop). I can't figure out what's happening. I have ATI discreet graphics. Here's some of the error:

APPCRASH

Explorer.EXE

version 6.0.6002.18005

atiumdva.dll

Module version 7.14.10.208

Does anyone have any ideas on this one?

Thanks!

(running Vista Ultimate and the ATI Catalyst control is running as well)

Here is the full error:

Re: T500 Desktop crashes frequently - graphics driver error ("atiumdva.dll")

*TEMPORARY SOLUTION*

I figured out a way to stop the crashing. I disabled switchable graphics in the BIOS. There are two related settings and one forces the OS to ignore the presence of switchable hardware. The system runs off the discrete graphics alone.

Previously, I was not switched into integrated graphics but the crashes were happening. It appears that that just the option of integrated graphics upsets the system.

There have been some graphics anomalies appearing now and then such as the desktop cutting through a window for no reason.

I just have to wait for an updated driver.
