T500/Discrete Graphics/Windows 7

Model: 20823GF, with Intel/ATI 3650 graphics.  Win 7 64 Bit or Win7 32 Bit, or Win Vista 32...

Was a custom load/install (Win7 64) when I purchased it, not a Lenovo load.

ATI & Intel show in the Device Manager. ATI shows as not being able to start (Code 10, sometimes Code 43) - in Windows 7 OR Windows Vista SP2.

BIOS settings set to Switchable.  If I change to Integrated, machine boots fine and loads Intel drivers. Set to switchable, loads the Intel drivers, but no option to switch in Power Manager.  If I change to Discrete, machine will Blue Screen, indicating that the driver is caught in a loop.

Installed latest Win7 ATI switchable drivers per the Lenovo site.

ATI drivers work fine if I set to Discrete and install Windows XP.

Motherboard was just swapped out under warranty - I'm thinking this is only a coincidence, but worth noting.

Yes, I realize that there are heaps of threads on the discrete graphics issue, however none seem to resemble the issue that I am having.

Before you note that I should load/restore the Lenovo image - I can't right now, as the disks were damaged and thus I am awaiting new ones from Lenovo.

Re: T500/Discrete Graphics/Windows 7

Something else to note, on occassion in Win7 64 if I choose discrete, the machine will load with the vgasave driver, prompt to install the ATI drivers. I then reboot, and then the max resolution I can get it 1440*1080 with still the vgasave driver loaded. Bizzare if you ask me.

Re: T500/Discrete Graphics/Windows 7

Anybody?  Lenovo told me to reload the machine with the recovery DVDs; which I have done; however I am still getting an error code 43 for the ATI video card, and the ATI card will not launch in discrete mode.

Help!  Is anyone reading these?

Re: T500/Discrete Graphics/Windows 7

I am having a great conversation with myself - was really hoping that someone else could offer a suggestion.

Lenovo has advised that I should have the motherboard swapped again, as the video planar is probably hooped.

I suspect that they refurbish these motherboards.

Thanks.

A have not a clue, I have Win7 Ultimate 64bit and set on discrete and the ATI driver works fine for me. Maybe they should look at the board again.
