Hey parmardilan,
You can not get VGA to HDMI, you would have to do VGA to your TV with an Audio cable to your TV for sound. This is what I do on my Flat panel which is I have a VGA cable ( resolution up to 1680x1050) and audio cable for sound. Now the resolution is based on the graphic card your VGA cable is connected to. You can use DVI and get a better resolution and picture then VGA and both can be set up with audio cable.

Hey Parmardilan,
Your audio should work when you set up your Displayport to HDMI and then set up your audio from your computer to your TV using your 3.5 headphone using your RCA cables. Yet from what I can read without setting up what you are suggesting is it's based on your TV. As some people had no issues and some said they did. On a side note I have to edit my statement and say you can get VGA to HDMI cable if you wanted. I apologize for this mistake.
Best Regards,
Hiro
