Well since you ruled out the ram, then your motherboard would definitely be the culprit.

Figured so, but it just seems odd that the problem keeps changing. I figured if a mobo went bad, you'd get one consistent problem. I've had four or five different things happen here.

that could mean it is a higher level problem in the motherboard, a controller chip of some sort.
