Been looking around but did not find the solution yet, and I hope the answer is not NO!?!?
I have a dual boot setup, one with W7 and the other with Win2008 Server R2 SP1.
Under W7, dual screen works fine.
Under Win Server, it only show the laptop monitor, I tried plugging in a monitor in D-port, VGA, both at the same time and one at a turn. Booting with VGA plugged, Booting with D-port plugged.
None of those trial made Windows see that I had a second monitor.
Tryed looking at the drivers, they clam to be up-to-date, tryed installing Presentation Director, as I tought it is not installable on Win server.
Did I mist sometihg?
Thanks in advance, if this work, 4 laptop sales person will be happy!!!
PS: sorry for the poor english, not my native language

So I installed Desktop experience, started service 'theme', activated aero, still not showing any monitor in VGA port.
Tried the driver, manage to force some in but still did not give me access to the port!?!?
Did anybody manage to have dual screen using Win server 2008 R2?

It should be a ATI Radeon HD 3650, did not find any confirmation on my laptop, but by the model number it should be that.
Driver is ThinkPad Display 1680x1050, V220.127.116.11
While looking for the driver I found in device manager under Display adapters I have 2 Standard VGS Graphics Adapter and one of them have a code 10 error on it!?
When I try updating the monitor driver, the adapter complain that it is not compatible (quite expected)
BTW, thanks for the help ThorsHammer

Finally put my hand on 2 of the laptops, one was working so I grad the info on the drivers.
Needed the Mobile Intel(R) 4 series Express Chipset Family
Here is the zip file with the installer:
Extract, ran, restart, worked, made my day!!!
