T500 loud beep when changing volume

My t500 beep loudly whenever I use my Windows XP to change the volume...even though I set the O/S sound scheme to "None"...It doesn't happen with the volume change button but I connect my laptop to an external monitor so I don't want to bother using the volume change button...

I'm trying to reinstall the sound driver to see if that's the problem?

In case above doesn't help, then enter BIOS -> Config -> Alarm ->Volume Beep -> Set it to Disabled.

Restart and go to the BIOS Setting and you will find the Beep with Volume Setting. Disable it.

I have just sorted out a longstanding irritating problem doing this.
