Here's my specs:
T500 2.4ghz w/ 4gb ram, purchased october 09
Battery: 9-cell
Graphics: "energy saving" mode
Life: only 2.5 hours battery life, three if I'm lucky.
Usage: just have about 10 tabs open on chrome, no flash or anything
What are you guys getting? Other reviews claimed people getting about six hours. I did the battery gauge reset earlier today, it calculated a max of a little less than three hours as well.
My friend's t400 2.2ghz (with 9-cell) seemed to last for six hours easily, possibly more than that.

also, is there any way one could possibly use the 27++ battery slice on a t500 or t400?

I ended up stumbling upon this thread ( http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-7-Discussion/B
I'm updating power manager to see if it'll fix things, otherwise I'm getting tempted to cave and buy something else.

Cell make: Sanyo, manufactured 2009-09-28, first used 2009-10
Full Charge Capacity: 75.89
Design Capacity: 84.24 WH
Cycle Count: 188
FRU part number: 42T4619
Laptop Model: 2082-Z2U
I've only been using graphics in the intel mode.
If the battery has a 1 year warranty, should I try to get it warrantied ASAP then?

I too confirm 5 hours for the T500 with 9cell, maybe more. Since you are at 188 cycles I recommend reading about Lion batteries ( and rechargeable in general) - it is very important how you have been using your battery - and only you know that - and compare it with recommended usage.

ugh, I meant 2082-8ZU
I did't realize (and am somewhat surprised) that the battery's already gone through 188 cycles. I did just upgrade everything and put my settings into "power optimized mode" now, I'll see if it helps.

Does anyone know if the 27++ battery slice will work on the t500, or is it only for the t510/t410 ?
