T500 with 2 monitors?

Hi all,

I have a T500 that is in use with a docking station and 2 graphic adapters:

- ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 (Driver: 8.752.4.0 -> Provider: ATI Technologies Inc. )

- Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family (Driver: 8.752.4.0 -> Provider: ATI Technologies Inc.???)

Now I want to run my system with the laptop monitor and additional two monitors. But it doesn't work anymore until I've reinstalled my operating system (Win 7 64 bit).

I'm only able to use the laptop monitor and one additional. Am I using the wrong drivers? Perhaps the given driver for my Mobile Intel... from ATI Technologies Inc. is the wrong one?! I just wondered when I saw it's provided by ATI.

By the way: When I installed the ATI driver software I only installed the driver, but not the control center because I had problemsn with multi-monitoring when I used control center before I reinstalled my system.

Hopefully you can help me.

Thanks and best wishes,

Dirk

Re: T500 with 2 monitors?

IIRC, the T500 can only drive a total of two monitors, which can be two external ones, or one external + the laptop one.

Re: T500 with 2 monitors?

Hi  ColonelONeill,

thanks for your response.

I'm sorry to correct you, but T500 can handle 3 monitors (2 external (hdmi and dvi interface) + laptop), I had this case running for a while until I updated my RAM to 4 GB and switched from Win 7 32 bit to Win 7 64 bit. Now I don't get it to work anymore. I think it depends from the used drivers (versions).

A college of mine has this configuration run with 8.641.1.1000 (Radeon 3650) and 8.15.10.2202 (Intel video device), but I don't find the drivers in this version anymore.

Perhaps you anyone knows where to find them?!

Thanks and best regards,

Dirk

Re: T500 with 2 monitors?

My bad; my memory is pretty faulty. :smileytongue:

When it worked, were you switched to the ATI or Intel adapter?

Re: T500 with 2 monitors?

You mean, which video device was connected to the external monitors? I think it were both: One on the Intel, one on the ATI device but I'm not sure and I think this is the problem at the moment, that one of the drivers doesn't allow two video devices to work. But I'm not sure.

How can I find out which video device is just in use with the one external monitor I work with? You have an idea? I fear to disable one of them in windows control so that I don't see anything anymore and cannot reactivate it - I hope you understand what I mean. My english is very confuse :smileywink:

Thanks and best wishes,

Dirk

Re: T500 with 2 monitors?

Strange...

Usually, Windows uses the ATI exclusive-or the Intel adapter, but not both at the same time...

You can find the older 8.641.1.1-090824a-089811C drivers at the bottom of the switchable driver page:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-73641

This one does have the resume from standby issue where both cards do indeed activate. Out of curiosity, did your T500 run hotter than expected?

Re: T500 with 2 monitors?

Thanks for that link, but I don't get the drivers in that version installed anyway. I uninstalled everything from ATI, I even uninstalled the video device in the device manager. But after downloading and installing the drivers you posted I still see the "8.752.4.0" driver version in the device manager.

No idea what I'm doing wrong :smileysad: At the moment I even can only work on my t500s monitor because the second external monitor is not found anymore, too :smileyvery-happy: I'll have to check out what this depends on later.

Thanks and best wishes,

Dirk
