T510 Palmrest Removal and Fix

While it didn't completely solve the problem, I have managed to stiffen up the loose/creaky palmrest on my t510 quite a bit.

Didn't see any videos floating around of a how-to for palmrest removal so I threw one together.

Weird. My friend's T510 has no issues on the right side, but a very similar sound on the left side (albeit not as loud and clacky as yours). I'll check with him later today and see if his needs this procedure. I used to (and currently still do) stuff folded sheets of Kleenex under my keyboard over the Ultrabay (IMHO better than felt pads which apply point pressure) to keep my keyboard from making hollow ringing noises when I hit keys without the CD drive inserted. It also makes it feel more rigid, although that might just be the lack of reverb on keystrokes. Also, where's part 2? :smileytongue:

Well they certainly make it look easy!

For the record, it creaks as much as it ever has, so I wouldnt even bother.

Should've bought a Dell I guess.

Re: T510 Palmrest Removal and Fix

What if you just stuffed a bunch of Kleenex under the palmrest rather than trying felt pads?

using small rubber pads maybe a better solution.

Re: T510 Palmrest Removal and Fix

I've been using paper towel under my keyboard and relatively close to the heatsink for a long while now without issue. I don't think the inside of the laptop should ever reach paper's autoignition temperature though.
