T520 - Not using all 4 threads (Core speed at 797.5 Mhz)

Question

Lenovo T520 specs i7 Quad Core 2.2Ghz with 4GB RAM, when doing a Windows Experience Index (WEI) the score for processor is clocking at only 3.4 out of 7.9.

Answer

Ensure you have the following done.

• Lenovo Power Manager installed
• Lenovo Power Management driver installed
• BIOS updated
• Lenovo Power Manager profile set to Maximum Performance
• AC & Battery plugged in.

Drivers available via Lenovo Support

If you have all the above done and WEI score still does not increase, do the following step.

1. Click Start
2. In Windows search bar, search for "msconfig"
3. Select Boot tab
4. Select Advance Options
5. Untick "Number of Processors" and "Maximum memory"
6. Press Ok
   
   
   
7. Once that is done, reboot the laptop
8. Boot the laptop up and run Windows Experience Index again.
