Hello
After Thinkpad logo disappear, I can see "Configuration changed - Restart the system" message followed by 1 beep. The system will reboot after second and same scenario is coming again.
What I tried:
1. F1 - the message Entering setup is under Thinkpad logo, but ends up with same error
2. ThinkVantage button - Launching ... message showed up, same error after
3. remove cmos batter for 8 hours - no change
Any ideas what happened and how to solve it?

I had this problem before. Your notebook is stuck in restore mode. REMOVE THE BATTERY AND POWER and reboot. 8)

That was first what I tried - batery remove, unplug power cord and reboot and it's still in reboot loop.

I have exactly the same problem with ThinkPad EDGE e220s.
I have opened the thing to remove the BIOS battery and the (integrated) laptop batery but still nothing.
Lenovo support told me that because the BIOS in on EEPROM it will not get erased by draining power ![]()
There is no "clear BIOS" jumper on the motherboard and I am unable to do anything. Even that pressing F1 displays that "Entering setup" text in the lower left corner, the error shows up right after that and the laptop reboots.
Before I opened the laptop it was only showing:
"Configation changed - Restart the system"
now (after unplugging both batteries) there is additional line:
"Real time clock error - Check date and time settings"
It seems bricked to me
after one month of using... and it seems this was caused by a buggy BIOS but ofcourse my warranty is gone as I have opened the thing now...
