Trying to set up dual external monitors with T500 (2082), need help!

[ Edited ]

All, I'd like some advice on what I may be missing.

I've got a T500 (20825XU) running Windows 7 Enterprise (64-bit) docked in the Advanced Mini-dock (2504). This system has the AMD/ATI Mobility HD 3650 and supports switchable graphics. In the BIOS I've got the graphics settings forced to DISCRETE. I am attempting to set this up with two Acer V223W displays (1680x1050).

After reading through this Lenovo support article on dual displays and DVI pass-through, I purchased Lenovo's DisplayPort to DVI adapter.

When I connect everything up, the Windows display management program shows me both displays. The primary display is connected to the DVI-D port on the docking station. The second display is connect to the DisplayPort on the laptop with the DisplayPort to DVI-D adapter. If I click on the primary display (DVI-D), I am able to change all of the available options (Display, Resolution, Orientation, Multiple Displays). If I click on the secondary display (DisplayPort), the Resolution and Orientation options are greyed out. If I try to extend or duplicate my desktop to the 2nd display, I get an error message saying "unable to save settings" or similar.

I have searched on these forums and through Google looking for a solution and haven't found one yet. I feel as though I am so close to getting this working and feel like I'm missing something but I do not know what. If anyone has gotten this exact same configuration working, I would really appreciate your suggestions on what I might be missing.

For now, I'm running with the secondary display connected as a VGA display. It works but the image is noticeably "soft" compared to the DVI-D connection.

Thanks in advance!
