Video playing issue - Green Band on top of the screen

I am getting this type of green band repeatedly on YouTube video's in IE 9 on Windows 7 64 bit if Nvidia is engaged. Not with the Intel graphics. I have removed Flash but it won't play or display therefore it using Flash 64bit is installed. I was not able to repeat the problem with Chrome. But lately I can't seem to get Chrome to call on the Nvidia GPU even though its selected in Nvidia Control panel. I ran the 32bit IE 9 or 64bit but the Flash will only install the 64bit version even though I tried to manually install it. (Adobe says that both are built into the same download and only applies the one). Chrome runs the video without Flash installed. Weird there!

I've spent a lot of time already and need to get other work done. Anyone see this problem?

Is there a Nvidia GPU/memory diagnostic utility? I am wondering if its GPU fault. I did not see this before and I know my MB was replaced from before. I am not getting this on MSN.CA video's.

Green Band

Thanks

Re: Video playing issue - Green Band on top of the screen

I've been having the same problem for some time now and came here looking for help and found your note.

My machine is the W520 with NVIDIA Quadro 2000M with Windows 7 (64 bit).  I generally use IE 9 but have FireFox and Chrome installed.  I was able to replicate your experience with Chrome.  Thanks for that work around.

I have the same problem with FireFox 12.

Re: Video playing issue - Green Band on top of the screen

Chrome runs its own bundled Flash player, whose version seemingly doesn't conflict with the discrete GPU. Try the beta Flash players.

That said, I'm not sure why you'd want your browser to run on the discrete graphics card anyway.

We shouldn't have to worry about which GPU it is running on but I've tried controlling the GPU that is used and I get the same result.

Re: Video playing issue - Green Band on top of the screen

I checked checked and MSN.CA or COM use MS Silverlight to power the video's.

Looks like a driver issue but a diagnostic run should be run to verify the discrete RAM and GPU with its 48 CUDA's are working properly.

Newer or Beta drivers won't work with Optimus switching.

I can't believe I've not read about this before. It must be indicative of a specific Nvidian family. My old notebook uses GeForece 7600 and is fine. I was wonder about Chrome and did not have time to research flash on it but thanks for the update.

[ Edited ]

Strange. Works fine for me in Firefox Nightly 32-bit, with Flash 11.3 beta.

I'm on the 301.24 NVIDIA driver though.

Re: Video playing issue - Green Band on top of the screen

Well, What is your GPU and system. I don't see that driver nor which version of Nvidia panel you're using. I was still using the supplied default Nvidia software preloaded by engineering.

I don't recall these issues before I sent it away. Especially the IE crash were non existent. I made an image of the drive before I sent it away. I may push that back onto the drive to see how it works. I should not have to search high and low, patch modify the drivers and OS to get this running stably.

Probably should've been more specific lol.

I'm on a W520 with the Quadro 2000M on 301.24.
