Hi
Thank you for reading my post.
I can not find out what are benefits of a T500 laptop over a T61 one, is there any feature that T61 has and T500 does not?
or is there any feature that T61 has and T500 does not?
As I will use them with a 9cell battery, which one is more energy efficient and has smaller weight.
thanks

It would be also interesting to read the experience of using T500 with advanced dock and pci-e video cards.
today we have:
T60 - fully compatible
T61 - works, but wifi is unavailable when using the certan models of pci-e card (including lenovo recommended radeon x1300)
T500 - ?

-Switchable graphics (Intel X4500 and ATI graphics card) best of both worlds, if you want to play games you the ATI card and if you want to save battery life X4500.
-Slightly better cooling and battery life

Some additional benefits:
- Fastest/newest Intel processors based on the Montevina platform
- Up to 6MB L2 cache
- Support for up to 8GB DDR3 memory which is faster and uses less power than DDR2 - which helps with longer battery life
- You can get a model that is broadband-ready, either AT&T or Verizon. But you're not tied to a particular vendor, i.e., if you want to go with Verizon today, you can switch at a later time to AT&T by changing out the WWAN internal card.
- NO HDMI and Dual DVI link output. The T500 has one VGA port and one DisplayPort port. You can get single-link DVI-D via a cable/dongle attached to the DisplayPort. For more info on DisplayPort, check out www.displayport.org

Whilst we agree with all the above comments re the T500, and it is a superb new platform, the big advatage that the T61 has over the T500 right now is one or price! We have reviewed this fact a number of times over the last few weeks at http://www.thinkpadtoday.com
Right now there are some pretty amazing deals on the T61, so if your not bothered about being real cutting edge, it could be the way to go! A new ThinkPad T61 will certainley give you great service.

wjli2, out going models will always represent a bigger bang for buck than new models. Anyway you are not comparing apples with apples. The T61p does not compare to the T500. The W500 is the replacement for the T61p
Right now you can get up to 40% off a T61, if the offer is still open

When stocks run out you will soon see some deals on the T400/T500, then you will see some bargains!

Hi
I read in some places that T400 and T500 have built-in GPS capability, is it true?
Thanks.
