Wireless headaches

I've got a T400S with all the bells and whistles and to connect this piece of hardware wireless on any wifi location to internet turns out to be a real nightmare, it always shows I am connected to internet but I cant get on firefox or explorer. I am looking for anyone who has had the same issues and found a solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
