how to capture fingerprints to jpeg/png

hi

 

I have some need of scanning fingerprints. How does one use the fingerprint scanner to scan fingerprints to a png or jpeg file ?

 

I have vista/ubuntu loaded onto my t500, the fingerprint reader works but only on vista.

 

I tried usng the scan option in gimp, but the fingerprint reader does not show up, seems like the driver is missin.

 

Can someone guide me ?
