wireless failure

Hi there,

I have a brandnew T520 which cannot connect to some websites via wireless, while through Ethernet is OK. Such sites are those hosted abroad ( I am living in Romania), for which the delay time is too large and lots of packets are lost. Does anyone have an idea for solving this issue ?

BR to all

Re: wireless failure

Are other devices equally affected?

What wireless adapter do you have in the T520?

Re: wireless failure

No other device seems to be affected, though I didn't try bluetooth connection. Using the Ethernet connection, everything is normal. Soryy about your second question - I left the laptop at the office, so I'll post the answer tommorow morning.

[ Edited ]

Do you have a 3rd party desktop firewall software like Zonealarm, Norton or Kaspersky Internet Security installed?

In that case *remove* (not deactivate only) it and try it again.

Re: wireless failure

The laptop came with pre-installed Norton Internet Security, which is not activated yet. I didn't try yet to remove it. However, why this firewall should make a difference between sites, based on time delay ? Has this happened before ?

Re: wireless failure

See if lenovo has a driver update.

I am having trouble with mine which is a 1x1 11b card with poor connection and signal. It used to be if you had an intel network card you were golden. I appear not any more.

Re: wireless failure

It's the latest driver. Eventually I sent it to a service company. Can you detail about the intel network card ?

Re: wireless failure

The Intel WiFi cards appear to have various problems especially on some of hte 62xx with bluetooth on. Others appear to have issues as well if you read about others using Intel WiFi card and whether is the fault of the drivers and/or the hardward is uncertain. I am nearly right on top of my WiFi router in the basement and even with 100% signal I am connected at 11g @ 48Mbps not 54Mbps. I have 3 other notebooks and don't have the problems.
