Battery Issues

So i was part of the batter recall, and the new battery has now failed and won't recharge.... I get the error.

A battery error has occurred. The battery cannot be charged. Replace the battery.

And since the battery they sent me was made in 06 they won't cover the battery.  Are there options wiht support or do i have to bite the bullet and just buy a new batter?

Do you friends have Thinkpads like yours??? maybe you can try it out on them, or if you go to a thinkpad stocklists whom are welling to insert your battery into their demo machine, to give it a try to see whether you battery really have died, or motherboard is the culprit of the battery problem....
