Cloning an image to T61 (Type: 7665-11A) - Unable to boot into Windows XP

Hi Everyone,

I need help from all of you. I have problem with my image that I tried to ghost over to T61.

1. Original HDD is Windows Vista Business

2. I'm using ghost 8 to boot from CD and ghost over my office corporate image.

3. Image cloning successfully. Restart but cannot boot into Windows XP.

4. The screen is black in color but there's a cursor on the top left conner of the screen.

Tried Work Around

1. Take a T61 that is working fine, patch-up all necessary patches.

2. Using Ghost32.exe to pull-out the image of the working T61.

3. Tried using the newly created image to re-clone the image to the HDD.

4. Boot-Up still the same issue as the above mentioned.

Can someone tell me how to resolve this? I have also clear the MBR but still the same.

without launching into any rhetoric, i gave up on ghost the moment symantec bought the company..

acronis products are all MUCH better..

I had a similar problem using shadowprotect to restore an SOE. I ended up flashing the BIOS and it worked, don't ask me why, I did ask Lenovo support why but they would only say that it is on their list of possible solutions.

Hi all,

I found a solution on my issue.

1. Used a Win98 boot disk.

2. Boot in and use fdisk

3. Clear the partition and recreate it and set it to active.

4. Restart the machine and boot into Win98 boot disk again.

5. Run ghost -noide

6. After recloned, restart the machine.

Simple. but the only thing that is when doing a fdisk, it took around 10min.

Overall, still very good. Better then using 6 CDs. Now I can just use 1 DVD.

Hope this will help all of you if you faced the same issue as mine.

Another question, can we bundle or combine this automated fdisk in sysprep before the image decompress ?

In addition to the above, I also had to perform an 'fdisk /mbr' in order to get my R61 to boot into Windows XP.
