My computer is completely dead. I can't even get into the Bios, nothing on the screen, no beep. Is there a hardware reset to bring it back to life? Can I replace the Bios?

no you can't replace the bios, as it is physically soldered to the motherboard.

After I did the upgrade to the most recent bios (april 2010) this two-year old T61p does not boot to vista, but it WILL boot to Ubuntu on CD, and then be able to access the disk. This is very, very odd, and makes me suspect the recent BIOS upgrade has some problem.
Anyone else see this? Where/how can I report this?

reupdate (to an older version) the bios through the bootable cd method, and see whether that solves the issue.

Yes, I wanted to go back to an old bios, but when I burned the bootable CD for flashing the older BIOS, it boots and reports "no update is needed at this time" (or something like that). Is there a way to force it?

Hello,
I have seen otherwise operational computers running Microsoft Windows Vista fail to boot when the mode for the SATA interface is changed.
Prior to booting into Microsoft Windows Vista on the ThinkPad T61, try entering the BIOS setup screen and toggling the SATA interface from AHCI to Legacy (or vice-versa), saving the settings and then booting up into Windows. Does this make any difference?
