Hello.
I just got a T61 that the seller downgraded to XP Pro (factory installed is Vista). When I first booted up the machine, it went through the Windows XP Pro OS completion and activation. After doing that, machine continued to boot up.
Problem is it does not have any drivers. So I am having to do all that manually.
I already did the Hotkey utility, which required the following driver installations: Access Connections (so I can get FN-F5 functionality), Power Management (FN+F3 functionality), Presentation Director (FN+F7 functionality).
I also installed the following drivers:
under Diagnostics- Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox
under Hard Drive- ThinkVantage Active Protection System
under Mouse/TrackPoint- untraNav Utility
under Networking: Wireless LAN, Inter Wireless LAN (bg, abg, abgn)
under Networking: Ethernet, Inter PRO/1000 LAN adapter
the ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software (under ThinkVantage Technologies)
Questions:
1) Is there anything else I need?
2) In my old IBM T43, under FN+F5, under the Wireless Radio tab, I could change the status to Off/On for both the Wireless Radio and Bluetooth Radio. In this new one, it still has a Wireless Radio tab but I only have Bluetooth Radio that I can turn On/Off. How can I get the Wireless Radio to show up here? Note that I am able to connect wirelessly to the internet but it is just not showing up on the FN+F5 option under Wireless Radio tab.
I would appreciate any help.
Thank you.

Once you have the ThinkVantage Toolbox installed, run it and do the system update. That should pull down all/most of the other drivers and apps. You''ll need a working internet connection, so it may be necessary to install the NIC driver first.
[edit] On my Win 7 T400, system update is in both the toolbox and something called System Tools. YMMV w/XP.
It used to be that we'd say to install ThinkVantage System Update first, but it looks like that's part of the toolbox these days.

Glad to hear it helped ![]()
There are two things that should be printed in red on the boxes the laptops come in - or maybe on the laptops themselves: burn your recovery media ASAP, and if you ever do a vanilla (re)install, load TVSU first.
