How to disable internal audio

Pls tell me how to disable computer audio and still be able to use USB audio.

Go to your Control Panel, select your Sound and Audio Devices icon, then go to Sound tab, and then select the appropriate device for playback and recording.

Thanks.  I tried this and the internal microphone is still working.  I did a sound test with nothing plugged in and it still records sounds.  Any suggestions?  I need to disable the sound.
